My name is Mike.

I love music, I love people, and I love creating platforms that bring out the best in everyone

​

Since I was 18, I’ve run events; everything from intimate open mics to national club nights and bar crawls. Somewhere along the way, the nightlife industry lost its charm.

So, I shifted my focus to live music. From small open mics to massive indoor and outdoor gigs, I used my skills to elevate Lincoln’s music scene. I’ve worked in nearly every pub and bar, helping them find success and build a real sense of community.

On December 1st, 2023, I took everything I’d earned, every lesson, every connection, every ounce of passion and decided to build my own live music venue.

But I didn’t take the easy route. I chose Lincoln’s most rundown, reputedly doomed space and rebuilt it from the ground up, myself. No investors, no huge teams, no handouts. Walls painted, surfaces repaired, furniture built, every detail designed. From branding to marketing, imagery to video production, I run it all... because I LOVE it!

I had a little help from my friends and local musicians too, thank you for that!

After a year of relentless work, on December 19th, 2023, The Komodo opened its doors...

In just one year, The Komodo has become a cornerstone of Lincoln’s live music scene, hosting over 100 events and giving a platform to countless artists.

Why Komodo?

In a world where GRASSROOTS venues are an endangered species, it felt fitting to name it after one. We should look after them, its where new music and friendships are born!

But also, the struggle to build this place mirrored my own struggles; it was a fight to build it, a fight to open it and against the odds, we opened!

I’m thankful for those who supported me, and very thankful those who tried to stop me... as it made me more determined!
